Most of these sites are not quick fixes, however if you do the footwork, there is different help available.

Please keep in mind many of the government agencies listed help if Funds Are Available:

Please feel free to bounce around inside the government  links as they will link you to some of the other resources I am listing here and others.

Let me know if you have problems with a link or if you have a question, I'll be happy to help.

Heating Cooling  Electric Bill Assistance

Program name is LIHEAP

Successfully received assistance with Electric Bill payment 2 times for my son. Check the page to see specifics on qualifying.  I do believe they help with deposit for Electric service as well.

Weatherization Assistance for your home. Same Agency

Low Cost telephone service. Also called Lifeline and Linkup. Check out this information page.

Directory of resources of all types including Hotlines, Mental Health Counseling, Addiction, Food Banks, and sooo much more are listed on this site - Big Bend 211 Community Referrals. Many of these contacts seems to be from  all over Florida not just in the North part of the State.

Florida Public Assistance Online applications can be found here. Food Stamps, Medicaid, etc...

Need an item? Couch, Highchair, Books for you child?  This link is great. Post what you have to give, if anything, or post what you need. It is a Yahoo group for the Tallahassee, Big Bend Area so you will need to become a member, no dues, just send a note saying why you want to join.

You can get emails daily, weekly or as they are posted in the group.  It's called Freecycle Tallahassee.  These groups are all over the nation and I have personally received a gently used Tricycle, highchair and playpen in the past for my Grandkids. I have also been able to pass on items, like clothing, furniture and such that I no longer needed or my kids had grown out of. Often you will see larger items too like Washers and Dryers being offered. It's a great way to recycle and keep so much out of our landfills too!

This is the link to the Tallahassee Housing Aurthority. You can apply for public housing, find a list of landlords who accept Section 8 Vouchers and the addresses of the properties. They also have other programs such as a family reunification program for parents who have had problems where Children and Families have had to intervene to assist with housing the family upon reunification.  I have actually been on the list for public housing for a long time but one day my name will be on top. However, I don't think all the programs have such a long waiting list.  Additionally, if you have a property you wish to rent to Section 8 clients you can also find out how to comply and join.

This page is the Federal website with information similar to the one above which is local to Florida. Information is provided about Senior housing and help for Seniors who need there homes worked reparied. Also programs for Disabled people needing housing and many others Federal Programs; Homeownership, Foreclosure, Landlord and Renter Laws ect.

This is a link to Legal Services of North Florida.

Vocational Rehab has several programs for those who are disabled. This links you to the list of programs. My former husband was in desperate need of dental work and was able to get a referral to a dentist. He needed dentures and since he had to work with the public they were able to fund his dental work so he could stay in his position and be free of pain.

I'll be posting more as I continue to search my files.  Again, if I can answer any question or if a link is not working, please let me know.

I wanted to share some of the resources I have found in the past that may be of help to others.

I have needed help, my son, his wife and my Grandbabies have also needed help. Being disabled and at home all the time I have had the chance to research and find different options.

I've saved these pages, very often the various applications too. I'll be posting these on this on this page in hopes they could be of assistance to others in the North Florida area or beyond.
